The Representative of Sterop/Belgium Laboratories in Cameroon;
Heads of private and public wholesale distribution establishments of pharmaceutical products (CENAME, FRPS and others);
Heads of public and private health facilities (HFs) of all categories;
Health professionals.

OBJECT :  Withdrawal of a batch of hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg tablets from the Cameroonian market.

 

I have the honor to inform you that the "pseudo drug" with the following characteristics mentioned on the packaging :

    Hydrochlorothiazide 50 mg tablets, box of 1000,
    Batch: No.16G04,
    Manufacture date: 6/2017,
    Expiration date: 30/5/2021,
    Alleged manufacturing laboratory: Sterop laboratory based in Belgium, bearing "TEROP" on the packaging of this product, is a "FAKE DRUG".

The manufacturer (Sterop) having attested that the batch number and other elements on the label of this product do not correspond to its manufacturing records on the one hand, and also because of serious incidents reportedly linked to the use of this incriminating batch of hydrochlorothiazide on the other hand,

Please immediately stop its use, administration and distribution, and then secure and quarantine the stocks withdrawn until further notice.

Also, inform me on the eventual existence of previous stock of this fake drug in your facilities, their origin, use as well as the actions carried out at your level, following my prior instruction.
